The airport is located in the town of Agualeguas in the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and was built by the then president of Mexico, Carlos Salinas de Gortari in 1990.
After 1994, this airport was closed due to inactivity of the same air.
For many years it was abandoned, being used occasionally by aircraft and helicopters of the Mexican Air Force.
It plans to reopen it for reuse as a military airbase in March 2012.

Este aeropuerto esta localizado en el poblado de Agualeguas, en el estado de nuevo león, México y fue construido por el entonces presidente de México, Carlos Salinas de Gortari en 1990.
Después de 1994, este aeropuerto fue cerrado debido a la inactividad aérea del mismo.
Por muchos años estuvo abandonado, usándose ocasionalmente por aviones y helicópteros de la fuerza aérea mexicana.
Se tiene planes de reabrirlo para ser reutilizado como base aérea militar en marzo del 2012.
